Prostaglandin E2 EIA Kit

Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is derived from PGH2 which in turn is synthesized from arachidonic acid, through the cyclooxygenase pathway. Many cell types, such as, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages produce PGE2. PGE2 possesses vasoactivity, modulates immune functions, regulates sleep-wake cycle and exhibits many other activities. This competitive ELISA kit provides quantitative analysis of PGE2 levels in biological fluids based on the competition between the PGE2 present in the sample and PGE2-enzyme conjugate for a limited number of antibody binding sites

Prostaglandin F2 alpha EIA Kit

Prostaglandin F2 alplha (PGF2 alpha) is produced in various tissues, it contracts smooth muscle and has been used to induce labor. It also has a luteolytic effect and has been considered a luteolytic hormone. Usually, urine and tissue culture supernatant can be assayed directly following dilution with EIA buffer. PGF2 alpha can be extracted from plasma using Sep-Pak columns according to the protocol provided

6-Keto-Prostaglandin F1 alpha EIA Kit

6 Keto-Prostaglandin F1 alpha (6-keto-PGF1 alpha) is a stable hydrolyzed product of unstable PGI2 (prostacyclin) which is derived from PGH2, which in turn is synthesized from the arachidonic pathway. Through the arachidonic pathway, it is the major product produced by the endothelial cells, although it is also synthesized in other cell types such as macrophages. Prostacyclin inhibits platelet aggregation and induces vasodilation. Quantitation of prostacyclin production can be made by determining the level of 6-keto-PGF1 alpha. Urine and tissue culture supernatants can usually be assayed directly by diluting them with the EIA buffer provided. 6-keto-PGF1 apha can be extracted from plasma using Sep-Pak columns according to a protocol provided with the kit

11 beta-Prostaglandin F2 alpha EIA Kit

11 beta-PGF2 alpha is derived from PGD2 by the action of 11-keto-reductase, a potent bronchoconstrictor agent, and also causes hypertension. Plasma levels of 11 beta-PGF2 alpha are highly elevated in patients with systemic mastocytosis with an overproduction of PGD2. Usually, urine and tissue culture supernatant can be assayed directly following dilution with EIA buffer. 11 beta-PGF2 alpha can be extracted from plasma using Sep-Pak columns according to a protocol provided with the kit

Prostaglandin D Synthase

Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) is actively formed in a variety of tissues and is involved in many physiological events. PGD2, one of the major prostaglandins in the central nervous system (CNS), is involved in CNS activities, which include, induction of hypothermia and sleep, and is thought to be a new type of neuromodulator. In the CNS and other tissues of mammals, the isomerization of PGH2 to PGD2, is catalyzed by PGD synthase. Two types of PGD synthase have been reported. One is glutathione (GSH)-requiring PGD synthase; the other is GSH-independent PGD synthase. These two enzymes are very similar acidic proteins with the same molecular weight, but distinct in that they differ in amino acid composition, GSH requirement, sensitivity to 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene, and antigenic determinants. (Kanaoda, et al. Cell. 90:1085-1095, 1997.)
